Tour de Yorkshire route confirmed for Pocklington
The Tour de Yorkshire will be passing through Pocklington in 2018, it has been confirmed.
The official route for the weekend has been announced, with Pocklington once again playing a role in Stage One of the Tour on 3 May, 2018. Both the men’s and women’s races will be passing through Marketplace.
Stage One will set off from Beverley, with the men’s race heading out towards the East Coast before looping back on itself and heading towards Pocklington. It will then head out towards Allerthorpe before making it’s way to the finish in Doncaster.
The women’s race, which will take place on the morning, will pass through first on a shorter route to the finish line.
In 2017, the Tour de Yorkshire attracted over 20,000 people to Pocklington, with events being held all day in the town around the race. Plans are now in full swing to put on events surrounding the two races on May 3.
Simon Hudson, Managing Director of Love Pocklington said: “We are delighted that the Tour De Yorkshire will be coming though the town again in 2018. This year we attracted over 20,000 visitors to the town with the series of events throughout the day in the town and the live screen showing the full stage. 2018 sees both the women’s and men’s races coming through Pocklington and plans are already being made with the Town Council to make the day as good as 2017.”
Love Pocklington will work closely with it’s parent company, The Soapy Group, in partnership with Pocklington Town Council to arrange events for the day.
